Chipping

The Tip: 

Generally with the Chip shot you want the ball to land roughly a yard onto the putting surface. The amount of roll you receive depends on the club you are using. Less loft is going to give you more roll.

With the club selection made, play the shot in the following way.

  • Stand closer to the ball, and grip down the club.
  • Position the ball in the middle of a narrower than normal stance.
  • Keep the wrists firm, and swing the club with a smooth tempo.
  • Strike the ball with a slight downward hit.
